When we negotiate prices with foreign manufacturers, we achieve cheaper prices and transport costs thanks to the business volume that we handle.

Quality and safety

At Pérez-Pujol Internacional we have selected the most committed and important manufacturers in their respective countries, visiting them regularly in order to get to know and monitor their reality. This, together with a very strict control of the contract fulfilment, allows us to be more attractive than any unknown partners that lead to uncertain results.

Our history

1940

The company is founded by Ramón Pérez-Pujol

Ramón Perez-Pujol (1916-1984), founder of the company, began his professional career as a Commercial Agent in 1940 selling within Catalonia Canned goods and Dried Fruits, produced all over Spain.

1979

International Food Europe Award

We were given the International Food Europe Award in London in 1979, by the Dutch ambassador in Great Britain.

1972

We start selling Dutch cockles in big quantities

From 1972 we started selling Dutch cockles massively, which were until then unknown in Spain. The secret was that the fishing was done with boats that caught about 20 tons of cockles in 8 hours while in Spain they were collected with a rake, by hand. This allowed many Spaniards to have access to high quality canned seafood at a reasonable price. In the 1980s, we sold more than 16 million cans of this article annually supplying the largest importers and Spanish chains.

1970

Liberalization of imports and new lines of business

From the 70s, with the liberalization of imports, we began to sell canned fish, fruits and vegetables from foreign countries, within Spanish territory. We took advantage of the new situation in the market to launch new lines of business, which have been our hallmark ever since.

1949

Opening of our offices in Via Laietana 24

He located the offices in Via Laietana, which at that time was the food business hub in Catalonia, due to its proximity to the Port, the food auction market (Casa Llotja del Mar de Cereals i Alimentació), in which we owned stand number 119, and the Born. Subsequently, a simultaneous line was created of raw materials for the manufacture of Compound Feeds, which together with Human Food, complemented each other for more than 30 years.

1980

Sale of canned Chilean seafood

At the beginning of the 80s, we started selling canned Chilean seafood, which until then had little presence. At the end of the decade, we were supplying annually to the Spanish market more than 8 million cans of clams, razor clams, sea snails, crab and mussels.

First Alimentaria Fair in Barcelona

We’ve had our own stand in the Alimentaria since 1980.

1982

Sale of squid, octopus and Thai cuttlefish

In 1982 we started selling squid, octopus and cuttlefish from Thailand, obtaining yearly sales of 7 million cans.

1985

45th anniversary

We are celebrating the 45th anniversary of Perez-Pujol Internacional’s foundation.

2023

We are awarded the PRIMADUTA prize

In 2023 we were awarded by the Indonesian Government the Primaduta award, in recognition of our work since 1990, with the introduction and sale of Indonesian canned pineapple in Spain, positioning us as the largest supplier of this article in our country. The award was given in Madrid, by the Indonesian ambassador to Spain, His Excellency. Dr. Muhammad Najib.
